I remember very clearly my concern that my new hypnotherapist – and years later, my teacher and friend – would put a spell on me or enact some sort of mind control.
“So will you call at midnight and whisper, ‘Istanbul or Constantinople?’” I asked her warily.
“Why would I do that?” she replied, as confusion registered on her face.
“I don’t know: so I’ll go on a bank-robbing spree on your behalf, or do your taxes?”
Her peals of laughter were enough to give me the confidence to continue with that first session. The results were not only palpable and stunning; they were life-altering. I had been stuck in a very lucrative, but soulless and draining career, and I was too terrified – too attached to the seeming safety and security – to leave it. Similar things could be said about my marriage. I was hiding out from my own life, covering up all my pain with work and travel and new clothes I didn’t need.Read More
Change Your Habits
If you are reading this, you are a survivor.
One way or another, you have made it through life to this moment. Many of us developed tools in order to survive…and possibly they are no longer serving a positive purpose today.
You may consider these tools bad habits or worse, but they got you this far. In other words, don’t be too hard on yourself: not only did you develop these habits in order to cope or even survive, but they can be changed if that is what you wish.
- FOOD ISSUES: WEIGHT LOSS AND EATING DISORDERS
- DRUG AND ALCOHOL DEPENDENCE
- CUTTING OR PATTERNS OF SELF-ABUSE
- OTHER ADDICTIONS OR UNWANTED HABITS/BEHAVIORS
Children, Tweens, and Teens
I love working with kids and young adults. Hypnosis seems to come naturally to them, and it’s such a pleasure to see a young person unburden themselves from false beliefs, anxieties, or other struggles.
Where do these things come from in the first place?
Each child goes through stages of development that occur around certain ages. Everyone is presented with specific tasks in each stage in order to develop and grow. When a task is left unlearned at any stage, a gap in the child’s development remains which can create problems as they grow older.
What is incomplete from one stage will carry over into later stages of development. Listed below are the developmental stages of childhood with the potential challenges if a task is left unlearned/incomplete.Read More
